I need 10 students total to be officers of the organization, from these 10 students I need the following information:
Name
Address
Class
Hrs. Carrying (I believe this means Honors)
Then I need a faculty member from CCAC to "sponsor" us. Following that, if the Dean of student life will not sign off on our official status I will need to speak at a Student Body Government meeting, which are held in the "Cougars Den" around the side of West Hall on Ridge Ave. and convince them to give us status as an official campus organization. I'm counting on everyone to attend this meeting if/when it happens - purely for moral support, I'll do all the politicking.
When we finally pull this off and become an official organization my first action will be to throw a party. Depending on the location (hey annie... ) it will be a barbecue or we will order pizza, plenty of beverages, and rent some cliche' gun-loving movie like "They Live" with Rowdy Roddy Piper or whatever the new movie with Clint Eastwood that they advertised briefly with a clip of him wielding a double barrel shotgun and saying "get off my lawn" - something like that. I also intend to get a few custom made SCCC planners, that I'll give to each of my "officers" - so yeah, I can promise good food, good fun, and good people if you can give me you're info and support me as I press against an unwilling (uninformed) bureaucracy for basic civil liberties.
Remember, I'm just one person too. Don't let yourself think "I'm just one person, what could I do?" that's a trap set up for you by the few power elite who do not want the masses to realize that they outnumber them. (that sounded a little too conspiracy theorist, but that's how Prof. Robbins in the English dept. put it)
We outnumber those who would have us give up our guns, we've just learned to be discreet and polite and don't want to bother anybody. Every once in a while though we do need to show them that this is America and gun owners are NOT the minority. This is one of those times.
To get a feel for how thoroughly we outnumber them:
The Census Bureau reports that The population of Pennsylvania on April 1, 2000 of people between the ages of 21 and 64 was 6,837,268
There were a total of 95,334 concealed carry licenses issued in PA in the year 2000. That's almost 72% of eligible PA citizens!
381,441 firearms were reported purchased/transferred in Pennsylvania in
2000. (this does not include long guns which are not tracked) meaning that about 18% of citizens of an eligible age for a concealed carry license bought brand new handguns that year.
We can do this. This is just forming a student club, if the Anime/Manga club can gain official status at CCAC than a national advocacy group for the right to protect ourselves MUST be able to.
We can and will educate the administration of Community College of Allegheny County - we just need to speak up.
Who will speak up with me?
