I might have known it would come to this. (I will explain what it has come to in due time) When I went to the office of student life, which at CCAC is called "the cougars den" & asked for the information needed to form a student organization the woman helping me was incredibly nice right up until the point where she asked me what type of club I was trying to form. I answered a rehearsed "I want to start Our campuses branch of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, which is a non-partisan grassroots advocacy group with several thousand members at many universities across the nation" Having dropped her smile, she replied in a less than friendly tone "This is that GUN thing, isn't it?" "By concealed carry I do mean the concealed carry of firearms, yes. But I am not in favor of breaking any campus policy or disrupting campus life in any way. I just want to gather like minded individuals to discuss the matter" She then told me that there had been previous attempts to start this "club" (she accentuated it, like it was not worthy - though CCAC has, for example, the anime manga club) and that the Dean of Student Development never approved it, and that once a student managed to get the Student Body Government to hear him out to try to override the decision, but they voted against allowing it. She walked away from me and I left, grateful that I had gotten all of the information I needed BEFORE she asked me why I needed it. This was just a small incident, I didn't mind much. I felt sure I would meet with people who'll speak to me this way in the future and chocked it up to experience.
